We use personal information only where it is needed to operate CVBuilder: to maintain your account, save your CVs, provide improvement and export features, verify R99 or R49 purchases and keep a record of the access those purchases give you.
Information we collect
- Account details such as your name and email address.
- CV information that you enter or upload, including work history, education and skills.
- Billing details you provide for payment records and invoice generation.
- Transaction records showing whether an R99 unlock or R49 Edit Pass was successfully paid.
- Access dates used to determine whether your 30-day or seven-day editing window is active.
- Basic session, security and technical information needed to operate the platform safely.
How we use your information
We use this information to:
- create and maintain your account;
- save, organise and reopen your CVs;
- provide CV improvement, preview and export features;
- confirm permanent download access after the R99 purchase;
- calculate when a 30-day or seven-day editing window starts and ends;
- generate payment records and invoices where applicable; and
- protect the service and communicate important account or service information.
Payments and Paystack
R99 unlock and R49 Edit Pass payments are processed through Paystack. Paystack receives the payment information required to process the transaction. CVBuilder receives transaction status, reference and related payment information needed to verify the purchase and apply the correct account access.
CVBuilder does not store your full card details on its own systems.
CV content and AI-assisted features
Your CV content is processed when necessary to provide the features you choose, including CV improvement or wording assistance. We use that information to perform the requested function and to return the result to you; ownership of your CV content remains with you.
Service providers
We may use trusted service providers for functions such as hosting, database storage, payment processing, email delivery and AI-assisted features. They receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform the relevant service on our behalf or to complete a transaction you request.
Data storage and security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information stored in CVBuilder. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we use access controls, secure infrastructure and operational safeguards designed to reduce risk.
Retention and account deletion
We keep information for as long as needed to provide your account and saved CVs, maintain payment and invoice records, meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Account deletion options may remove data that is no longer required, while some transaction or accounting records may need to be retained where the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can update supported account and billing information from within CVBuilder and may request assistance with your personal information or account. We aim to handle personal information in line with applicable South African data protection requirements, including POPIA where relevant.
The R99 and R49 model requires us to keep a reliable record of successful payments and editing expiry dates so the platform knows whether downloads are unlocked and whether editing is currently active.
